God Keeps His Promises
We live in a world full of broken promises. People forget, lie, and manipulate. Trust can easily be lost. But God is not like us. His word stands secure because His character never changes (Malachi 3:6). Scripture declares, “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments” (Deuteronomy 7:9).
God’s promises are sealed with oaths and covenants (Gen. 9:9–17; 15; 17; Exod. 24; Jer. 31:31–34; Luke 22:20; Heb. 6:17) and are far greater than any human promise for at least two reasons: they are guaranteed and genuine. They are guaranteed because they rest on His unchangeable purpose. He never forgets or turns away from His word (Heb. 6:17). They are genuine because they flow from His character: “it is impossible for God to lie” (6:18).
In a world of wobbly words, God’s promises remain sure and steadfast. This is the hope that holds us firm. Take time to thank our Lord today for His unchanging promises.
