Giving thanks to the Lord
Giving thanks to the Lord should be a regular part of our prayers. We have so much to be grateful for. When we pause to reflect on all that our gracious Father has done and continues to do, our hearts should be filled with gratitude.
To be thankful is the will of God (1 Thess. 5:18), making it an essential part of the Christian life. Paul reminds us to be “giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light” (Col. 1:12).
Once disqualified by sin, we have now been purchased and secured through Christ’s redemption and have received the forgiveness of sins (Col. 1:14). As heirs of His eternal kingdom, we have every reason to rejoice! True thanksgiving pleases the Lord and honours Him. Let us join the psalmist and say, “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever” (Psalm 136:1).
